President: Iranians support Palestinian cause

President Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with Salim Zanoun, Speaker of the Palestinian National Council (PNC), on the sidelines of the 6th International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Intifada (Uprising) that is underway in Tehran.

President Rouhani said, “For us, any move to restore rights of the Muslim people, importantly Palestinians, is of high importance.”

He said Iranian people have thus far paid a dear cost for supporting Palestinian nation and opposing Zionist regime’s measures, but is still decisive to continue support.

He lauded Palestinian nation’s praiseworthy resistance against 70-year injustice of Zionist regime and said, “We believe Muslim world should resist to restore rights of Palestinian nation, having the duty to pay the necessary price.”

He noted that Palestine conference in Tehran shows unchanging will of Iran to support Palestinian people, and said, “For us any move for materialization of rights of the Palestinian people, mainly Palestinians, is of high importance.”

“Though a very tough line is ahead of all Muslims to address rights of Palestinians, the nation, choosing the path of Jihad in defense of its rights, will be successful.”

He wished success for all Palestinian officials, who strive for addressing rights of Palestinians and soothing their sufferings.

Zanoun, for his part, congratulated Iran on successfully holding Palestine conference and Palestinians as well as Palestinian cause. “We need to be beside each other and not to allow any issue cast its shadow on the basic issue of Palestine liberation and confronting criminals measures of the Zionist regime.”

He announced that stances and viewpoints of the participants in Tehran session in support of the Palestinian people is highly encouraging and promising.

Noting that the goal of the Zionist regime and Americans is harming Iran and Palestine, Zanonun said, “The spirit of resistance and Intafadha does exist in Quds and Gaza and our unity will continue strongly with the great and powerful Iran.”
