Pakistani MPs condemn terrorist attack on Iran's parliament

Talking to IRNA separately, they extended condolences to the Iranian government and people on the tragic incident.

Former Interior minister and Member of Parliament Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao said: 'I strongly condemn cowardly attack on the parliament of Iran and the Mausoleum of Imam Khomeini.'

Sherpao believed that the attack is part of the conspiracy to destabilize the region.

“Such acts cannot be tolerated, it is very cruel,” he added.

Another member of the parliament Rana Muhammad Afzal of ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz condemning the attack said that people of Pakistan are with people of Iran in this time of pain.

“Iran is our close friend and such attack is highly condemnable,” he said. Afzal offered condolences to the government of Iran and families of the victims of the attack.

Talking to IRNA, Member of Pakistan’s Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi condemned the attack on the Iranian parliament, and said that the culprits of the act must be punished as early as possible.

He added that agents of the US and Israel were behind this attack and their objective is to destabilize Iran.

The lawmaker went on to say that Daesh (the ISIS terrorist group) is the organization of the US, Israel and some Arab regimes and the Muslim countries must unite to fight against the menace of terrorism.

Also Parliamentarian Shah Mahmood Qureshi talking to IRNA said: I would like to condemn the attack that took place on Iranian Parliament today and on the Mausoleum of Imam Khomeini. I believe the attack is condemnable and completely unjustified and I condemn all forms of terrorism.

In an apparently coordinated attempt, two terrorist groups attacked mausoleum of the late Imam Khomeini, southern Tehran, and the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) on Wednesday morning, killing 12 people and injuring 42 more.

One of the terrorist was gunned down by the security forces and another attacker, reportedly a woman, blew herself up outside the Imam Khomeini shrine.

The terrorist group of Daesh (the ISIS terrorist group) has claimed responsibility for the fatal attacks in Tehran.

Terrorists entered the Parliament building while they had dressed as women, said a security official.

Parliament operation ended by security forces who killed three of the terrorists, one of them had detonated himself before.

Meanwhile, according to an official at the Intelligence Ministry, several terrorist cells have entered Tehran to carry out terrorist operations but members of one of the cells have been arrested.
