Official: Boosting Iran-Russia ties to restore regional security

Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with Russian Ambassador to Tehran Levan Dzhagaryan.

'Expansion of cooperation between the two parliaments' economic commissions will be of prime importance and the Iranian parliament is ready to help implement the existing potentials leading to the expansion of economic cooperation between the two countries,' he said.

Syrian measures in fight against terrorism and focusing to resolve Syrian crisis through political means is very admirable and expansion of Tehran-Moscow to this end will be good help in resolving the crisis in Syria, he said.

The clear border segregating terrorists and Syrian opponents should be defined and terrorists should not be allowed to find seat to talk with Syrian government, he said.

Continued aggression of Saudi Arabia to Yemen and their continued repression in Bahrain have made the region insecure, Amir-Abdollahian underlined.

Iran plays a very significant status in the region and the country’s role in regional developments is undeniable, he said.

Russian ambassador, for his part, referred to growing trend of cooperation between Iran and Russia at domestic, regional and international levels and said Iran has a very significant and undeniable status in the region.

The stands adopted by the Islamic Republic of Iran and Russia in dealing with Syria and regional developments are very close and the two countries play leading role in fight against terrorism in Syria, he said.

Referring to ample of untapped economic cooperation between the two countries, he called for expansion of economic and commercial cooperation between Tehran and Moscow.

Moscow supports political means in resolving regional crisis and believes that continued consultation between Tehran and Moscow help resolve regional crisis, Russian ambassador said.
