No decision yet to attend intl’ conference on Syria: Spokesman

Speaking to IRNA on Thurdady evening, the spokesman said Iran has been invited to attend the international conference on Syria, but Tehran is now considering the offer and attendance of the country’s foreign ministry in the conference is not certain.

Earlier some media had quoted an official at the European Union saying that Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will go to Brussels to attend the conference.

The European Union, Germany, Kuwait, Norway, Qatar, the United Kingdom and the United Nations will co-chair the Brussels Conference on ‘Supporting the future of Syria and the region’, on 5 April 2017.

The conference will bring ministerial representatives from 70 delegations, including from the EU and the region but also the wider international community, the United Nations, major donors and civil society, humanitarian and development organisations.

In London conference last year, it was agreed to donate over dlrs 10 billion for reconstruction of Syria.
