MP: Iran among main victims of Taliban

The Iranian envoy said in reaction to the allegations leveled by representative of Afghan delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Dhaka.

The unfounded allegations rise when Iran is among main victims of Taliban terrorist group resulting to martyrdom of Iranian diplomats in 1997.

Iran was the first country the emergence of Taliban to warn the international community, he said, adding that Iran has suffered huge financial and spiritual losses for crisis in Afghanistan.

Iran hosted millions of Afghan refugees over three decades, he said, and expressed regret over unfounded allegations made by Afghan delegation which will not to the benefit of Afghanistan and also does not help to resolve their problems, he said.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has played a very significant role for reconstruction of Afghanistan and spared no efforts to assist them, he said.
