Nasir Ahmad Nour, met Foreign Minister Zarif as his farewell visit. He was accredited as the Afghanistan ambassador to Tehran in 2013.
Ahmad Nour was previously Afghanistan's ambassador to Qatar.
No information on his successor has been released.
Iran and Afghanistan share a long border as well as other commonalities such as language, culture, and religion. The two countries have also a large volume of trade exchanges.
