Iranian filmmaker wins Turkish film festival's special award

The closing ceremony of the international film festival on Sufism was held in Turkey's Kunia attended by filmmakers, directors and cinema fans from around the world at Mawlana cultureal center.

Majid Majidi, the Iranian director and scriptwriter participated in the festival by two films 'The Willow Tree' and 'Children of Heaven', and won the special award.

He also took part in some meetings and workshops at the festival.

The second edition of the international film festival of Sufism in Cinema (Sufisin) was held on May 2-5 to mark the 790th anniversary of arrival of the Iranian renowned poet and Sufi Jalal ad-Din Muhammad, known as Rumi.

Another well-received film by Majidi, Mohammad: The Messenger of God, was previously screened in Turkey.
