In his letter, he emphasized the fact that Iran and Malaysia have been old friends for long, reiterating that the relations between the two countries have been reinforced during different periods such as when the late Ayatollah was the president of Iran.
Malaysian Foreign Minister Anifah Aman also in a message condoled his counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif on the sad incident.
Ayatollah Rafsanjani died on January 8 (Sunday) at the age of 82 due to a heart attack in a Tehran hospital.
