Spain is after a joint solution in the framework of the European Union, which involves re-activating the 1996 law against the Helms-Burton law in the US, Escolano said speaking at the Senate of Spain on Tuesday evening.
He explained that, according to the act, Spanish companies may be penalized by the extraterritorial measures taken by the US; this way they can have a path to protect themselves.
Escolano said that the EU has said that it would respect Iran as long as Iran is committed to the JCPOA, and Iran has been loyal to it.
He added that the Brussels plan has three elements: increasing cooperation in energy, providing new lines of credit through the European Investment Bank for small and medium-sized companies, and guaranteeing transactions through financial system.
Upon US President Donald Trump's walkaway from Iran Deal on May 8, the Spanish government announced that it will keep defending the deal alongside the other members of EU.
