Larijani: Syria in forefront of resistance in fight against terrorism, Zionism

Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad in Tehran on Monday.
Under such situation where aggression against Syria is very serious, cooperation between the two countries in political and economic fields are of prime importance, Larijani said.
The Islamic Republic of Iran and Syria enjoy deeply rooted and strategic relations, he said.
Syria is in forefront of fight against terrorism and Zionism and the political behavior of the Syrian government and its president for resolving the country's crisis through political means was very tactful, he said.
Iran's policy is based on campaign against terrorism and restoration of security in the region and on broadening cooperation with Syria, he said.
The US and its regional allies have created numerous problems in the region and it requires the wisdom of the countries in the region to avoid such harms, Larijani said.
Only big and colonial powers benefit from discord of Islamic states, he said.
There is no doubt that Iran's support from Syria will continue, he said.
Syrian deputy foreign minister, for his part described the Islamic Republic of Iran as a very important and powerful country in the region and Muslim world.
The Islamic Republic of Iran under tough times and hardship in Syria backed Syrian government and people and in the absence of Iran's support such unprecedented resistance was unlikely, he said.
Enemies try to put much more economic pressure on Syrian people, he said.
Fight against terrorism and terrorist groups in the region should be bolstered through forging unity among Muslims, he said.
Syrian forces and Syria's allies have achieved remarkable victory in Aleppo and north of Hama city and the final triumph is very near, he said.
'We are witnessing that the Iranian supreme leader attaches importance to expansion of relations between the two countries,' he said.
He also thanked the Iranian Majlis and government for supporting Syria.
