Larijani: Sardasht people symbols of patience, resistance

Larijani made the remarks in a message sent on the occasion of 29th anniversary of the chemical bombing of Sardasht by Saddam's regime.

'The chemical bombing of Sardasht which claimed 110 lives and injured over 5,000 defenseless people is considered as the worst and most painful chemical attack,” Larijani said in his message.

Larijani also expressed hope that the Iranian officials would do their best to diminish the people of Sardasht sufferings by inspiring liveliness and happiness among the people.

Sardasht is the third city in the world after Japan's Hiroshima and Nagasaki which became the target of weapons of mass destruction.

On June 28, 1987, Iraqi warplanes dropped mustard gas bombs on Sardasht, in two separate bombing runs on four residential areas.
