JCPOA paved way for further cooperation: Deputy FM

Sarmadi referred to the impacts of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in boosting Iran's bilateral cooperation with other countries saying that the removal of the anti-Iran sanctions after the implementation of the landmark nuclear deal (on January 20, 2016) has prepared the ground for cooperation between Iran and Singapore in all fields including trade and economy.

The JCPOA was signed between Iran and the world six major powers (US, Russia, Britain, France and China plus Germany) in July 2015 and later was officially implemented in January 2016.

After the nuclear deal came into force, foreign companies from various countries voiced their readiness for investment in Iran, Sarmadi said noting that grounds are prepared now for the Singaporean firms’ economic activities in Iran including investment in the energy sector.

Underlining Iranian officials’ resolve to promote relations with Singapore, Sarmadi called for removing probable obstacles to create suitable conditions for economic cooperation and promoting banking exchanges.

Meanwhile, Osman, who is in Tehran at the head of a delegation, referred to Iran’s long history of civilization and voiced his country’s readiness for bolstering bilateral ties with Iran.

He hoped that Singaporean firms would soon be able to invest in Iran.

In addition to economic cooperation, bilateral ties could be strengthened in the fields of culture, art, education and exchange of professors and students.
