JCPOA Joint Commission reviews technical aspects of nuclear deal, lifting sanctions

The event was attended by deputy foreign ministers and political directors of Iran and 5+1 Group.

Friday’s meeting of the commission discussed latest situation of projects of modernization of Arak heavy water reactor, setting up facility for producing sustainable isotopes in Fordow and production of nuclear fuel in Iran as well as relevant technical and safety dimensions.

The commission also agreed on measures for accelerating and facilitating pursuance of the activities.

All the parties also welcomed and expressed pleasure over the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) verification of Iran’s compliance with its nuclear commitments under the deal for the sixth consecutive times.

The eighth session of the commission also welcomed broader cooperation between Iran and 5+1 Group and called for deepening collaboration.
Lifting sanctions were also among the topics dealt with during today’s meeting in Vienna. In this regard, Iranian delegation presented a detailed report on the US betrayals as well as its procrastination in fulfilling commitments under the JCPOA.

Despite the Iranian delegation’s fierce criticism, the US delegation underlined the US administration’s adherence to the deal despite changes in the country’s government, saying that it has fulfilled all the measures legally required for lifting sanctions.

All the participating sides underlined the significance of balance in the implementation of the deal as well as Iran’s enjoyment of removing sanctions and called on all the parties to comply with their commitments under the deal.

At the end of the commission, Iran announced that it will pursue US breach of JCPOA seriously as it maintains the right to show any reaction towards the US approach.
