It is expected that the European Union which had a major role in reaching the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) to defend the deal powerfully, managing director of Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) said in a meeting with the Bulgarian Ambassador to Tehran Christo Polendakov.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he described Iran and Bulgaria relations as positive and called for the elevation of the two countries' all-out ties.

The Islamic Republic of Iran and Bulgaria enjoy lots of historical and cultural commonalities, the Iranian official noted.

Hashemi expressed hope that the cultural and media relations between Tehran and Sofia will be further expanded.

During the meeting, the Bulgarian envoy, for his part, underlined promotion of the two countries' relations and described the Iranian and Bulgarian media cooperation as 'positive'.

Polendakov called for improvement of Iran-Bulgaria cooperation in the fields of culture and tourism.

The Bulgaria's economy minister will visit Tehran within next 10 days to come and the EU Commissioner for the Environment will pay visit to Iran in a couple of weeks, the envoy elaborated while explaining the importance of consultations with the Iranian officials.
