Minister: Persian Gulf, Iran soul mates

He made the remarks in the closing ceremony for the 8th Persian Gulf Cultural-Art Festival in Bandar Abbas.

Various historians like Assyrian, Babylonians and Romans to Arab and Islamic historians have always named it 'Persian Gulf', the minister said.

Persian Gulf bridged the gap between civilizations and cultures as well as a connecting highway for humanity throughout centuries, he said.

Since Persian Gulf is the home to world energy resources, their greedy eyes cannot ignore it, Salehi added.

The Persian Gulf is also manifestation of dignity for Iran, underlined Salehi.

In a word, the Persian Gulf symbolizes an Iranian and Islamic culture, Salehi said.

He also called for protecting Persian Gulf environment.
