IRNA chief hails role of women in exaltation of Iranian society

He made the remarks in the opening ceremony of a photo exhibition dubbed as “Iranian Women” held in Tehran.

The Iranian women proved their roles in progress of society by active participation in all fields, the official added.

He said Iranian women proved that if they want, they can.

The “Iranian women” as a term brings to mind an ocean of concepts and a manifestation of life, IRNA chief added.

He noted that all the Iranian women who prepare their children for martyrdom on the way of God and those who sacrifice their lives in various social, cultural and economic fields are manifesting God on the earth.

Elaborating the difference between Iranian women and the women in other countries, Khoddadi said Iranian women’s social activities have not prevented them from upbringing the future generation in a good way.

There is no difference between Iranian women and men at work places including IRNA, he noted.

'Although working in media is very risky, women hold the most sensitive posts in Iran’s Islamic Republic News Agency.'

All these realities show that merit and not the gender is important for taking a post in workplace, he added.

“Iranian Women” is a one-week photo exhibition held in Milad tower in Tehran on Saturday to display the leading role Iranian women have been playing in every day life in recent years.

Jointly organized by the Vice-Presidency for Women and Family Affairs and the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), the exhibition displays 80 photos taken by IRNA’s photojournalists.

The participation and the capabilities of Iranian women and portraying the role they play in various spheres are the main themes of the photos.

Vice-President for Women and Family Affairs Shahindokht Molaverdi, Director of the United Nations Information Center (UNIC) in Tehran Maria Dotsenko, and the Managing Director of IRNA Mohammad Khodaddi delivered speeches in the opening ceremony.
