Iraqi PM: Iran-Iraq ties stronger despite terrorists’ wishes

Heidar al-Abadi made the remarks in a meeting where Iran’s new Ambassador to Iraq Iraj Masjedi submitted his credentials to Iraqi President Fouad Masoum.
Al-Abadi, appreciating Iran’s support for Iraq in combating Takfiris and Daesh (ISIS), said terrorists were seeking challenge to between Iran and Iraq, but their attempts on the contrary promoted and strengthened relations between the two countries.
He urged elimination of certain impediments on the path of expansion of cooperation between the two countries in economic domain as well as joint investment, creation of job opportunities and defining joint venture economic projects.
Masjedi for his part highlighted the need for exploring ways of expansion of cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad and said regarding their immense potential, Iran and Iraq should try to pave the way for expansion of ties.
The new Iranian ambassador to Baghdad also stressed that Iran would continue supporting the Iraqi government in various grounds.
Masjedi arrived in Baghdad last Tuesday. He met with Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Jafari the day after. Iran's ambassador also held talks with Iraq's parliament speaker Salim Jabouri.
