Iraq highlights role of Iranian military advisors in fighting terrorism

Beheading of an Iranian military advisor, known in Iran as 'Defenders of Shrines' by Daesh, had widespread reaction in Iran, Iraq, Syria and the world.

Tehran and Baghdad relations are strategic, Qasim al-Araji told IRNA at the airport before his departure for Iran.

The Iraqi official said that he will ink a Memorandum of Understanding with his Iranian counterpart on facilitation of Arba'een Pilgrimage for the Iranian pilgrims.

Providing security of pilgrims and facilitating their religious trip are topics to be discussed, he said.

Al-Araji called exchange of information, border security and fighting terrorism as other topics of his discussion with Iranian officials during the trip.

The Iraqi interior minister is expected to have an official visit to Tehran and meet with his Iranian counterpart Abdol-Reza Rahmani Fazli and some other Iranian officials.
