In comments on Sunday, the Iranian officer lashed out at the PGCC for its hasty and unwise action to designate Hezbollah as a terrorist group, saying the measure runs counter to the interests of the Islamic community.
“No doubt the measure has been taken under orders from the Zionists and archenemies of dear Islam and the Great Prophet (PBUH),” he added.
Firouzabadi described the statements released after occasional meetings of Arab monarchies as attempts for fomenting division and discord within the Islamic community.
The recent move by the PGCC was part of a “proxy attempt” by the Al Saud regime to further the “ominous” objectives of the US and Israel, he deplored.
“Contrary to the Al Saud and its regional and ultra-regional partners’ desire, there will be no fall-off in the Lebanese Hezbollah’s stabilized position in the region’s power balance,” the general stated.
He also underlined that the Israeli regime’s dream of “sustainable security in the occupied territories” will never come true.
Last Wednesday, the Arab monarchies of the Persian Gulf declared Hezbollah movement, which has been fighting terrorist groups in Syria and the Israeli occupation, a “terrorist group.”
The six-nation council officially added Hezbollah and all groups affiliated to its so-called list of terrorist organizations.
