The statement emphasized the need for 'collective' and 'non-discriminatory' confrontation with terrorism.
The April 7 terrorist incident in Sweden once again displayed the heinous and appalling image of terrorism and claimed the lives of innocent people including men, women and children and injured many others, the statement reads.
The people were victimized by selfishness, prejudice, and stupid ideas, said the statement.
Terrorism today has targeted the lives of innocent people and unfortunately, it spares no efforts in achieving its goals.
Iranian embassy also sympathized with the bereaved families of the victims and the government of Sweden.
Earlier, Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi also said, “Iran is quite ready to establish cooperation aimed at creating regional and international mechanisms to annihilate terror and violence across the globe and in the absence of insidious politicization of the issue.”
Four people were killed and 15 were injured after a truck drove into pedestrians on Stockholm’s busiest shopping street on April 7.
