Iranian researchers not under int'l restrictions: German scientist

Scientific exchanges, including exchanging students and professors, are a way to contribute to Iran's scientific progress, said Ansgar Schneider who was attending the 49th Annual Iranian Mathematics Conference underway in Tehran.

Commenting on sanctions the US has imposed on Iran, the German Physicist said, 'It is evident to the world that the sanctions are unilateral measures, and there are various ways for confronting the sanctions and keeping the relations.'

Washington withdrew from the nuclear deal with Iran, known officially as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), in May.

Trying to tighten the noose on Iran's economy, Trump has re-imposed sanctions that had been lifted in exchange for Tehran nuclear program under the 2015 deal.

There are much room for Iranian students and researchers to continue their scientific activities abroad, the German scientist said, although, he added, there may be some challenges.

The Iranian conference commenced on Thursday August 23 with scientists from Germany, Sweden, France, the US, South Korea, India and Brazil at Iran University of Science and Technology.

The event will be wrapped up on August 26.
