Iranian parliament begins last day of debates on president's proposed ministers

Today's session continues with debates on the proposed Minister of Energy Habibollah Bitaraf and then proposed minister for Sport and Youths Affairs Masoud Soltanifar.

The plans of the following ministers have been debated so far: Agriculture Jihad; Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare; Defense and Armed Forces Logistics; Economic Affairs and Finance; Education; Foreign Affairs; Health and Medical Education; Communications and Information Technology; Intelligence; Justice; Roads and Urban Development and Petroleum Minister.

After discussions on the proposed ministers' qualifications are finished, President Rouhani will give his final speech in defense of ministers' plans this afternoon and the process to give vote of confidence will begin.

Rouhani was re-elected as the president for a second term after winning a landmark victory on May 19.

President Rouhani took office on August 5. Then, he proposed 17 out of 18 nominees for ministerial posts of his cabinet.

The proposed ministers' plans are alphabetically being debated at Majlis sessions.
