Iranian, Kazakh presidents stress enhancing ties

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting in Astana.

President Hassan Rouhani congratulated his Kazakh counterpart for holding the first meeting of OIC on technology successfully, and said, 'So far Astana has been the city of peace and friendship, from now on, science and technology will be added to the city.'

He said Kazakhstan is an important country in the region and OIC, and added, 'The relations between Iran and Kazakhstan have been growing over past 25 years and we welcome more expansion, as well. We have had constructive cooperation on issues of mutual interest and international developments.'

Saying in the meeting that his country has always stood and will be standing by Iran, Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev added, 'You tried hard in the nuclear issue and were successful, too. And Iran has progressed a lot despite vast sanctions.'
