Iranian FM Zarif leaves for Rome to attend Med Dialogs

The agenda of the forum, held from November 30 to December 2, is common security, common prosperity, immigration, culture and civil society. It is taking place upon an official invitation extended by Italian Foreign Minister Angelino Alfano, said the spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bahram Qasemi, adding that the Iranian foreign minister is to deliver a keynote speech in the forum.

Mediterranean Dialogs is the annual high-level initiative promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and ISPI (Italian Institute for International Political Studies) in Rome. The event aims at drafting a “positive agenda” for the Mediterranean by stimulating debate and promoting new ideas, rethinking traditional approaches and addressing shared challenges at both the regional and the international level, wrote the official website of the event.

After the forum in Rome, Zarif is to visit Baku, Azerbaijan to attend the international conference on Heart of Asia, the spokesman said.

The 7th Ministerial Conference is held in Baku, Azarbaijan, on November 30-December 1, 2017, under the theme of “Security and Economic Connectivity towards a Strengthened Heart of Asia Region”.

The conference is to focus on current developments in Afghanistan to examine avenue for expansion of regional cooperation to help bolster peace and welfare in the region, Qasemi said.

The Heart of Asia conference comprises 14 member-states, 17 supportive countries and 12 sponsors.
