Iran, UNDP officials explore avenues for boost of ties

In their meeting which was held on the sidelines of the Women Political Leaders (WPL) Global Forum in Iceland, visiting Iranian Vice-President for Women and Family Affairs Masoumeh Ebtekar and the Administrator of the UNDP Helen Clark discussed the capacities for development of cooperation in the region.

The two officials stressed holding training courses for women empowerment, in particular in the areas that are affected by the climate change.

In the meeting, the Iranian vice president stressed importance of paying attention to status of refugees, particularly women and children, in war-torn regions.

Meanwhile, the UNDP head, for his part, underlined using mechanisms to protect peace and promote people's understanding.

Iceland hosts the Women Political Leaders (WPL) Global Forum this year.

The WPL Global Forum is attended by the leading political women around the world exchanging views about women affairs and sharing the related experiences.
