Birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) celebrated in Pakistan

The day dawned with thirty-one gun salute in the federal capital and twenty-one gun salute in all the provincial capitals to pay homage to the last Prophet (PBUH). There is a public holiday on the occasion.

Special prayers were offered in the mosques for peace, prosperity and development of the country and the Muslim world.

Special conferences and religious events were held in different parts of the country to pay respect to the last messenger whose whole life and teachings are the beacon for the whole mankind.

On the occasion special security measures were taken to avoid any untoward situation.

Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) processions and rallies were also taken out different parts of the country.

In connection with Eid Milad-un-Nabi, a National Seerat Conference under the Ministry of Religious Affairs will be held in Islamabad on Saturday. President Mamnoon Hussain would be the chief guest at the moot which would be attended by a number of delegates from home and abroad.

Prominent Ulema will highlight various aspects of Seerat-un Nabi (PBUH) calling upon people to follow the teachings of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) for their salvation.

Mosques, buildings, markets, streets and homes have been decorated and illuminated with colourful lights and buntings.

People have also decorated their houses with colorful lights and green flags to show their immeasurable love with the Last Prophet.

Radio Pakistan and other media houses broadcasted special programs underlining different features of the life of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).

In his message on the occasion of Eid Milad-ul-Nabi, President Mamnoon Hussain has stressed the need for following the teachings of Holy Prophet (PBUH) for the well-being of the humanity.

He said that we as the followers of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) should ensure peace and stability in the country obeying his teachings as his life is a complete example for us.

In his message, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi congratulated the entire nation on the occasion of Eid Milad-ul-Nabi (PBUH) and urged the need for following the path of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to create an environment of love, peace and harmony in the country.

He said the best way to celebrate this blessed day is an affirmation from ourselves to prove before the world with our character, way of talking and acts that we are the Umah of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).

Eid-Milad is the observance of the Islamic prophet's birth anniversary which is commemorated in Rabi' al-awwal, the third month in the Islamic calendar. The Sunni Muslims celebrate the occasion on 12th Rabi' al-awwal (Dec 1, 2017) while Shi'a Muslims regard 17th Rabi' al-awwal as the accepted date. Founder of Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution the late Imam Khomeini initiated to call the interval between the two dates as the Islamic Unity Week. The occasion is being marked in Iran this year from December 1-6.
