Iran, Turkey officials hold talks on Syria in Kazakhstan

Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs and Head of Iranian team at Astana talks Hossein Jaberi Ansari met Sedat Ünal on the first day of the sixth round of Astana talks on Syria and the two discussed latest developments in war-torn country.

Earlier on Wednesday, representatives from Iran, Russia and Turkey held an expert-level meeting on how on a de-escalation zone in Idlib Province.

Jaberi Ansari in a telegram post wrote that in the meeting the two sides examined latest developments in Syria.

In another development, he also wrote about his earlier meeting with Russian special envoy to Syria.

The general meeting of the two-day event is expected to take place on Friday.

Delegations from the Islamic Republic of Iran, Russia, Turkey, Syria along with Syrian opponents, UN delegation and observer countries are present in the event that is aimed at establishing peace and security in Syria.
