Takht-e Ravanchi made the remarks in an interview with reporters after attending a Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission session to discuss an executive order by the US President, Donald Trump, banning citizens of seven Muslim countries, including Iran, from entering the United States.
He described the travel ban by the US administration as a “discriminatory measure”.
Asked whether the US travel ban will affect implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the official said the US international and bilateral commitments should not be influenced by the illogical policy.
The other issue discussed in the commission session was Iran’s recent missile test, Takht-e Ravanchi said.
“We will not ask for anyone’s permission for our defensive issues and will do whatever necessary based on the country’s needs.”
He reiterated that Iran’s missile tests are by no means in contradiction with the UN Security Council Resolution 2231 because Iranian missiles are not designed for carrying nuclear warheads.
