Iran terror attack result of tension in region

In an exclusive interview with IRNA here Rajeev Sharma commented on the horrible terrorist crime in the southwestern city and the possible consequences of the terror attack.

He said: “It will surely trigger more unrest and more bloodshed in the already volatile region. Perhaps, the Trump administration and other Western powers need to apply a soothing balm and sympathize with Iran, instead of issuing provocative statements.”

Elaborating on the possible roles of the US and its regional allies in the Ahvaz terror attack, the distinguished analyst of the world affairs said: “I cannot say for sure that they have played a direct role but the Americans and their allies like Saudi Arabia and Israel have been upping their ante vis a vis Iran through diplomatic means.”

“Even the US Ambassador to the UN Nickey Haley, while condemning the attack in an omnibus term that the US condemns all terror attacks anywhere, used a provocative language and asked the Iranian leaders to 'look into the mirror'. Such condemnations are hardly helpful.”

To a question on the possibility of involvement of the Saudi Arabia and the Zionist regime in the attack given their enmity towards Iran, Rajeev Sharma said: “I won't be able to give an answer as 'yes' or 'no'. But I am sure one can deduce by asking the simple question: Who benefits by such attacks? Moreover, while virtually every nation has condemned the attacks, Saudi Arabia has been conspicuous in NOT offering diplomatic condolences to Iran.”

On India’s reaction to the attack, the senior political commentator said:”India has already issued a statement in this context as below: 'India strongly condemns the dastardly terrorist attack in the city of Ahwaz, Iran on 22 September. We convey our heartfelt condolences to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and families of the victims, and wish speedy recovery to those injured.' However, the Indian statement is rather general and a mere textbook response. But Tehran should understand New Delhi's compulsions and limitations in the current scenario.”

“I feel that big power's like China and Russia need to step in more proactively to espouse the cause of Iran. Unfortunately, India is not in this league at the present juncture, perhaps largely because it is bogged down with its own problems” he added.
Some 25 people, including women and children, were killed and 60 others injured during September 22 terror attack in Ahvaz which took place during a military parade held as part of the programs to mark the 38th anniversary of an eight-year imposed war against Iran.

The self-proclaimed Saudi-affiliated Al-Ahwaz terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack.

Dozens of countries have so far condemned the terror attack in Iran.
