Seoul still seeks waiver from sanctions on Iran

According to the South Korean News Agency, Yonhap, South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the meeting was held on Tuesday to discuss exemptions from the US sanctions on Iran oil exports, but the two sides have not arrived at any conclusion yet.

The meeting was attended by Yun Kang-hyeon, South Korea's Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs, and the Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources, Frantz Fanon.

Following withdrawal from Iran nuclear deal, the United States has pushed a number of Iranian oil importers, including South Korea, to stop purchasing Iranian crude, but the pressure has not borne any fruit so far.
