'Why does the West think it has the right to impose on the world its own interpretation of the human rights,' Sadeq Amoli Larijani said at a ceremony held to mark the anniversary of the Islamic Human Rights and Human Dignity Day in the Iranian capital.
Amoli Larijani stressed that to the Islamic Republic of Iran, the issue of human rights, is very crucial.
'This is because Islam attaches great importance to the issues of human rights and human dignity,' he said.
'You'd better keep your interpretation of the human rights for yourself,' he added, in reference to the West.
Referring to the Trump administration’s separation of families at the border, Iran's Judiciary chief said that they claim to protect human rights but they separate children from their mothers.
'Is separation of more than 2,000 children from their parents the right of the twenty first-century human being?' Amoli Larijani asked.
'Haven't you heard the cries of these children separated from their mothers? Is this the right of today's civilized human beings; those who claim to be civilized?' he asked.
He went on to criticize inaction by the so-called supporters of the human rights, when they are expected to react and do something to protect human rights.
'Presently war crimes are being committed in Yemen; elsewhere in Bahrain, civilians, including women and children, are under a horrible attack and most recently a hospital in Yemen's Hudaydah was targeted killing more than 200 people mostly patients, but they closed their eyes on these crimes ' Amoli Larijani said.
'Yet, when it comes to Iran they support street rioters and those who torch shops,' he said.
