EC to grant €46k to Iranian university

The project 'Introduction to Security Structures and Foreign Policy of the European Union: Suggestions for Iran received the budget from among 307 projects sent to Jean Monnet Program in 2018.

Ali-Reza Koohkan, Majid-Reza Momeni, and Ali Adami are the researchers in the plan.

The project will include holding workshops in different parts of the country in order to enhance training and research about the European Union to acquaint Iranian students with mechanisms of the international body.

Erasmus Program (EuRopean Community Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students) is the EU's program to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe. Its budget of €14.7 billion will provide opportunities for over 4 million Europeans to study, train, gain experience, and volunteer abroad, wrote the official website of the organization.

The Department of Regional Studies of University of Tehran had already won the budget once.

Jean Monnet (1888 –1979) was a French political economist and diplomat. As an influential supporter of unity of Europe, he has been called “The Father of Europe” by those who see his innovative and pioneering efforts in the 1950s as the key to establishing the European Coal and Steel Community, the predecessor of today’s European Union.
