Iran, Russia discuss latest developments in Syria

The two sides held the talks within the framework of the fifth international meeting on Syria in Astana and their discussions touched on areas to ease tension and the latest with the documents prepared in the expert session.

Iran and Russia are two countries founding the Astana talks. Joined by Turkey, the two countries raised the initiative to establish peace and tranquility in Syria as soon as possible.

Jaberi Ansari also met the UN envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura on Tuesday morning.

The 5th International Meeting on Syria kicked off in Astana on Tuesday, attended by delegations from Iran, Syria and Turkey, as well as representatives of the Syrian government and armed opposition groups.

The delegates discuss the latest conditions in Syria and general meeting will be held on Wednesday and all delegations will participate in it.
