
According to the public relations department of shipping and maritime organization, in the 118 meeting of IMO council, IMO's secretary general delivered a report about Jeddah conference on amending Djibouti code themed 'piracy and armed attacks against vessels in Gulf of Aden and Somalia's waters.
According to the report, in the conference on January 2017, in Jeddah under Djibouti code being ratified in the year 2009 aiming to fight against piracy in the said region getting approval of countries in the region, was revised and amended.
The amendments enforced general ambiguous revisions in preventing transnational illegal measures at sea such as human trafficking and stealing oil products, it said.
Presenting governments in Jeddah conference called IMO secretary general to body to maintain and preserve documents approved in the conference as well as amendment code.
The report indicates that countries such as the Islamic Republic of Iran, Brazil, Argentina and China lodged protesting note to the IMO- 98 legal committee.
