Iran not to go back to pre-JCPOA conditions: Expert

There is no possibility of re-approving the resolutions [against Iran] which the United Nations has already nullified, Ahmad Mojtahed told Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) here on Tuesday.

The UN approval of the Iran Deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), has cancelled all anti-Iran resolutions, the expert said.

In Addition, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed 11 times Iran's commitment to the JCPOA, [which many world leaders including the European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini believe that should be kept alive,] Mojtahed said.

Although the banking achievements gained after the JCPOA were not ideal, Iran could make use of the opportunity for banking exchanges during the period since the JCPOA went into effect in Jan 2016.

About US possible withdrawal from the Iran Deal, the Iranian expert said the move will not be to the benefit of the Americans.

Referring to the increase in the volume of trade exchange between Iran and the European countries in the post-JCPOA era, the expert said if the US leaves the Iran Deal the Europeans will got hurt and their independence will come under question.

US President Donald Trump was to declare his decision about whether he will suspend anti-Iran sanctions or not on May 12, but through a twitter message on Monday, he said 'I will be announcing my decision on the Iran Deal tomorrow [May 8] from the White House at 2:00pm.'
