Iran marks Lebanon's victory anniversary in Israeli war

The great victory, which was the result of bravery, sacrifice, solidarity and unity of all Lebanese political, tribal and popular groups, made the nation more immune to greed and the expansionist policy of the Zionist regime, Zarif said in his congratulatory message to Lebanon's Minister of Foreign Affairs Gebran Bassil.

The 33-day war started on July 12 with Israel's aggression on Lebanon soil, 2006 and ended with the UN Security Council resolution 1701 on August 14, 2006. The Israeli forces had to retreat from southern Lebanon.

The Iranian top diplomat in his message to Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah wrote: 'Certainly, it was your prudence beside the Islamic Resistance and support of Lebanese people that made the great victory against the Zionist regime and its followers possible.'

He noted that the historic victory as well as other achievements of the Islamic Resistance, including in Arsal, disappointed the Zionist regime and its regional and international supporters.

As the results of the 3-day war, thousands of homes of the Lebanese were destroyed by the Israeli forces and more than 1,000 civilians were killed.
