Iran, Indonesia officials meet on human rights

The event was held with the attendance of the Director General for Human Rights and Women's Affairs at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Zahra Pishgahi-Fard and Indonesian Managing Director of Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs Dicky Komar.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed latest human rights developments in the two countries as well as promotion of the issue on the international scene.

Pishgahi-Fard and Komar expressed concern over polarization of the world and international bodies and their treatment of the human rights issues and the dual standards practiced by Western countries
They also urged that both Iran and Indonesia enhance their cooperation in the framework of bilateral ties and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

The Iranian delegation, during the meeting, also expressed concern over human rights violations in Yemen, Bahrain and Myanmar.

The Iranian official called on the Islamic countries to cooperate more to put an end to such crimes.

Pishgahi-Fard also held talks with Minister for Women Empowerment and Child Protection of Indonesia Yohana S. Yembise, and the two sides explored ways to promote cooperation on women and children issues.
