Iran, India sign 15 agreements

The agreements included lifting political visa, and also agreements in agriculture, anti-dumping, Chabahar Port, post, women affairs, extradition of prisoners, judicial cooperation in civil and commercial affairs, health and medicine, electronic visa, and one agreement between the Iranian Chamber of Commerce with each of three Indian commerce chambers: Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Asshocham), and PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI).

The joint stamp of Iran and India was also unveiled in the ceremony.

President Rouhani arrived in the Indian capital on Friday night after a two-day stay in Hyderabad, south of India and was officially welcomed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During the welcoming ceremony, the national anthems of the two countries were played and a 21-gun salute was given to President Rouhani. The Iranian and Indian presidents also reviewed a guard of honor.

At the end of the ceremony, President Rouhani paid tribute to the late leader of the Indian independence movement Mahatma Gandhi, who saved India from the yoke of colonization, by laying a wreath of flower at his tomb and signing a memorial book.

The Iranian president's visit to India is taking place at the official invitation of the country's Prime Minister Modi who visited Iran last year.

President Rouhani is accompanied by the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif, Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh, Minister of Road and Urban Development Mohammad Akhoundi, and Minister of Industry Mohammad Shariatmadari.

A large delegation from Iranian private sector is also in India as part of President Rouhani's entourage.

President Rouhani ends his 3-day visit to India this evening.
