Iran: Illegitimate pretexts no excuse for violating nuclear deal

'No signatory of the nuclear deal is permitted to refrain from implementing the agreed mechanisms of the international deal by resorting to baseless, illegitimate pretexts,' Ali Shamkhani said, referring to the July 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and the major world powers, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The Islamic Republic of Iran is seriously determined to claim its legitimate rights without being influenced by the Hollywood hype, Shamkhani added.

The member of the Iranian committee supervising the implementation of the JCPOA, said that speeches made by the US President and the Prime Minister of the Zionist regime of Israel at the UN General Assembly, were indications of their anti-peace morale.

President Donald Trump's claims showed his low understanding of the international agreements and their legal bases.

Therefore, the international community is not going to pay heed to his comments, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council said.

Trump in his speech at the 72nd United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday claimed that the nuclear deal Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany signed in 2015 'provides cover for the eventual construction of a nuclear program'.

Trump also called the deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), 'one of the worst' deal the US has ever signed.

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed, seven times, Iran's full compliance with the deal, as well as the peaceful nature of the country's nuclear activities after the implementation of the JCPOA in January 2016, Shamkhani said.

'So, media campaigns and accusations used as psychological warfare by the parties to the deal would not be regarded as credible,' the Iranian official said.

'The US approach towards the JCPOA is tantamount to deriding at the nuclear negotiation process, as well as an indication of its lack of commitment to the rules of diplomacy, Shamkhani said.

Such an approach by Washington conveys no message to the world, but discrediting the international institutions, he added.

Referring to the US intelligence and military support for Saudi massive bombing of Yemen, leaving large number of defenseless civilians in the country killed and injured, as well as destroying the Arab country's vital infrastructures, Shamkhani said that Trump tries to distract the global public opinion from the humanitarian plight in Yemen by playing a game of blames.

A military intervention in Yemen was launched in 2015 by Saudi Arabia, accompanied by a number of other Arab states. The bombings have claimed lives of thousands of Yemeni civilians, including hundreds of children.

Human rights groups have frequently accused Saudi Arabia of violating basic rights of Yemeni people, as the coalition has bombarded many public places, including schools and hospitals.
