Water transfer route from PG to Yazd dates back to Safavid era

The Public Relations Office of the Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and Tourism (RICHT) quoted Mohsen Mirjani Arjanan, head of the archeological team as saying the project to transfer water from the Persian Gulf to Yazd Province is part of an important and large-scale project which also embodies provinces of Hormuzgan and Kerman.

The length of the project in Yazd Province is about 198 km which covers the cities of Mehriz, Yazd, Meybod and Ardakan.

The beginning of the project is on the outskirts of Anaar in Kerman Province and the endpoint is Ardakan Pelletizing Plant in a distance of 15 kilometers from Aghda, he said.

The survey was conducted in the form of walking on the open plains and using motorized transportation vehicles for moving in the direction of the defined route on the basis of geographical coordinates Kmz, he added.

He also announced identification and registration of various works and remains of the aqueduct routes, buildings on the route such as caravanserais and temporary lodging, several seasonal watering places and remains of several natural and agricultural landscape on the route.
