Iran has special relations with Iraq: MP

He told reporters after attending the second day of 'Baghdad Dialogue Conference and the Future of Post-ISIL Iraq' on Monday.

Iran will take steps forward promotion of Iran-Iraq relations particularly in trade and economic fields in the coming months, the official added.

Boroujerdi said he had separate meetings with several Iraqi officials including Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari, Iraqi parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri and Chairman of Iraq's National Coalition Seyyed Ammar Hakim.

Issues of mutual interest were discussed and the two sides underlined development of all-out ties, the lawmaker noted.

Speaking about 'Baghdad Dialogue Conference and the Future of Post-ISIL Iraq', he said, 'We attended the conference to express Iran's position and point of view.'

'I extended Iran's Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani invitation letter to Iraqi parliament speaker, foreign minister and chairman of Iraq's National Coalition to attend a conference on the Palestinian Intifada in Tehran,' Boroujerdi added.

The Iranian MP is expected to talk with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and the country's President Foad Masoum on Monday.

The two-day “Baghdad Dialogue Conference and the Future of Post-ISIL Iraq” kicked off on Saturday with speeches of Iraqi president, prime minister and parliament speaker.
