Iran foils terrorist threats during elections

Deputy Interior Minister for Security Affairs Hossein Zolfaghari said that due to pre-planned arrangements taken before the election time, the local and presidential elections were held peacefully and no attack on polling stations were reported.

All terrorists’ moves were deterred and there was no security problem during the elections time, he noted.

Presidential and city and village council elections were held in Iran on May 19. President Hassan Rouhani won a landslide victory by garnering over 23.4 million votes (57 percent of more than 41 million cast ballots) and became president for another four-year term.
