Iran will spare no effort to help restore peace and stability to Iraq, Tehran Ambassador to Baghdad Iraj Masjedi said in a meeting with Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Iraq Ján Kubiš.

The envoy referred to the US' unilateral sanctions against Iran, and noted that the move will complicate the situation in the region and is harmful to the region's peace and prosperity.

During the meeting, the UN secretary-general's special representative of for Iraq and the Iranian envoy also discussed the establishment of government in the war-torn country and fighting corruption there.
