Iran dismisses Azeri MPs' unconventional statements

Pakaeen said in an interview that such statements are not helpful to expansion of Tehran-Baku relations.
He said the visit of Armenian foreign minister to Tehran falls within framework of regulating Iran's foreign policy with neighbors and it is not against a third country.
He commented on certain media statements on President Hassan Rouhani's imminent visit to Yerevan, saying that it is a kind of media guessing.
'The timetable and visit of Iranian president go in line with with national interests of the Islamic Republic of Iran and it will be announced at an appropriate time by his office.'
The Iranian ambassador said that six times meetings of Iranian and Azeri presidents in the past three years indicate the political will of the two sides for expansion of relations and the meetings by the two presidents and the number of documents signed with the Azeri Republic is unprecedented.
Commenting on the main reason for positive developments in the Tehran-Baku relations, Pakaeen said it was due to the resolve of the Iranian government to expand ties with the neighbors and the moderate diplomacy.
Iranian and Azeri sides have gained good success in the field of tourism, agriculture, trade, transit, industry, and energy and they are determined to complete the North-South corridor which are token of the success.
The ambassador said that completion of the North-South corridor, lifting of visa requirement to promote tourism, and increase in volume of commercial transactions are in line with mutual interest with Azerbaijan Republic.
In the near future, Iranian high-ranking officials will visit Baku and especially, the tripartite Iran-Russia-Azerbaijan session will be held, he added.
