Iran, Cuba keen to cement ties

The meeting was held by Minister of Health and Medical Education Hassan Hashemi and the Cuban minister of energy.

Hashemi said Iran was ready to cooperate with Cuba in oil exploration and construction of power plants.

On the latest joint Iran-Cuba economic commission, the Iranian minister said the two sides did reach good agreements and hope that they would be implemented soon.

For his part, the Cuban minister said his country is interested in cooperating with Iran in the area of oil industry.

Oil exploration in the Gulf of Mexico is an important issue to Cuba that can be a good ground for cooperation between Havana and Tehran, he added.

He further said the two can also promote relations in construction of power plants as Cuba would face serious problems for electricity supply in future.

Cuba has always stood by Iran, and conditions are now well prepared for further bilateral ties, he stressed.
