In an interview with IRNA, Senator Nuzhat Sadiq, who is a leading member of Pakistan ruling party PML-N, said that Iran has always supported Pakistan on number of fronts and ‘we think Iran can play an important role in this regards.’

The politician said it would be a good gesture on part of any country if it plays a role in easing tensions between India and Pakistan. “We would welcome mediation steps by any country that are willing to ease Pakistan-India tensions but it should not be at the cost of our sovereignty,” she said.
Senator Nuzhat Sadiq said the tension at the moment between the two countries is high. 'We want talks with India but we have to solve the issue of Kashmir also.'
She added: We want this issue to be resolved according to the resolutions of the UN Security Council and this is the right of the Kashmir people.
The Senator said India and Pakistan need to sit down and solve the issues through dialogue. “Also in past, calling back of envoys has happened between the two countries but I think we need to wait for a while and see how things develop,” she said.
To a question, the lawmaker said best way to avoid more escalations in ties is serious talks between the two nuclear neighbors.
Responding a question regarding impact of recent tensions between India and Pakistan on their Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) membership, she said we have to wait and see how things develop and how things move.
Both border and diplomatic tensions between the nuclear powers of South Asia have escalated in the recent past.
