Iran calls on int'l community to resist US sancctions

'Iranian officials are united in face of the US sanctions and measures against the nuclear deal,' Said Kamal Kharrazi, Head of Iran's Foreign Policy Strategic Council, who was participating in the 7th World Peace Forum in China.

The international community and signatories to Iran nuclear deal are expected to remain committed to their obligations, he said speaking at a press conference.

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council (the US, France, Britain, China, and Russia) plus Germany signed the nuclear deal in 2015. Iran accepted to curb its nuclear program in exchange for economic sanctions relief.

The US President Donald Trump withdrew from the deal in May, calling it the worst deal ever.

How the US can be trusted while it is violating the agreement it signed and ignoring international deals, Kharrazi said.

'The Iranian nation distrust the US for several reasons,' he said.

The Iranian veteran diplomat also noted the necessity of international cooperation to confront the unilateralism Washington is showing with regard to other countries.

The 7th World Peace Forum is being held July 14-15 at the Tsinghua University, Beijing.
