Iran calls for serious, responsible UN action on Syria

Jaberi Ansari in a meeting with UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura on Kazakh capital, Astana, on Wednesday, said that the Islamic Republic of Iran will continue its unalterable policy in Syria.

The meeting between the two officials took place hours before the fourth round of Astana talks on Syria slated to be held today.

Earlier on Tuesday, Jaberi Ansari also met with Bashar Jaafari Permanent Representative of the Syrian Arab Republic to the United Nation.

On Dec 30, 2016 and following their joint meeting, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Russian and Turkish counterparts Sergey Lavrov and Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu agreed on fighting terrorism and establishing peace in Syria.

The Kazakh capital has already hosted three rounds of talks brokered by Russia, Turkey and Iran, held on January 23-24, February 15-16 and March 14-15.
