Iran, Azerbaijan underline boost in cooperation

In a meeting on Tuesday, the two officials discussed upcoming events including the Azeri President Ilham Aliyev visit to Iran in the next month.

The Iranian envoy for his part referred to Iran’s Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli recent trip to Baku and underlined that Iran is interested in development of cooperation with Azerbaijan Republic’s Interior Ministry in professional areas.

He said that the Iranian interior minister has invited his Azeri counterpart Usubov to pay a visit to Iran.

Jahangirzadeh referred also to the upcoming visit to Baku by Iranian Justice Minister Mostafa Pourmohammadi and noted that this trip is a good opportunity to explore avenues for realization of targeted goals of the two countries’ cooperation.

Meanwhile, the Azeri interior minister thanked his Iranian counterpart for the invitation and praised progress of the two countries’ all-out ties.

Iran and Azerbaijan Republic are two friend countries which enjoy deep religious, historical and cultural commonalities, he noted.

Boost in relation between Tehran and Baku will lead to closer ties between the peoples of Iran and Azerbaijan Republic, the official added.

Usubov noted that Tehran and Baku share similar stances towards fighting terrorism, extremism and organized crimes particularly drug trafficking.

The Azeri official welcomed the Iranian justice minister’s upcoming visit to Baku.
