Iran, Armenia ink MoU on consular cooperation

The cooperation document was inked at the 11th joint consular commission of Iran and Armenia in the Armenia capital, Yerevan.

Ali Chegini, the director general for consular affairs at Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and his Armenian counterpart Karmir Shalian inked the MoU on Tuesday.

Visiting Iranian delegation and its Armenian counterpart called the relations satisfactory and discussed various issues including judicial and legal cooperation as well as student and prisoners’ affairs.

The Iranian and Armenian sides explored ways of promotion of relations in tourism, trade and investment.

Removal of visa between Tehran and Yerevan prepared the ground for development of ties between the two countries’ people in all fields.

While the visa requirement among Iran, Armenia and Georgia has been lifted, the Armenian side offered enhancement of cooperation to the regional level.

The director general for consular affairs at Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs arrived in Yerevan on Sunday evening and discussed bilateral cooperation in various fields with the Armenia deputy foreign ministers and the country’s judicial officials.

Iran and Armenia removed visa requirements for the two countries’ citizens in Iranian calendar month of Mordad (July 22-August 21).

Lifting visa facilitated tourism and trade between the two neighboring countries.
